About
Kristine Adams-Wannberg
The County Auditor’s role is critical in promoting accountable, transparent, equitable government.

About Me
I’m Kristine Adams-Wannberg, and I want to be your next Washington County Auditor.
I am dedicated to government accountability, transparency, and improvement. I am a Certified Internal Auditor and have about 25 years of experience in local government auditing, policy evaluation, and financial analysis. I have examined programs that have ranged from homelessness to public safety services to economic development. I have helped governments improve their operations, be more effective, and be more accountable and transparent.
I am active in the auditing profession and am a past president of the Association of Local Government Auditors.
I have a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Portland State University. My bachelor’s degree is in Political Science from the College of Idaho.
I volunteer on several government committees. I am a member of the audit committees for the City of Hillsboro, Metro, and the Oregon Department of Revenue. I am a former community member of the Hillsboro School District Budget Committee, and Portland Community College’s Audit Committee.
In my spare time, I love to read, travel, work in my garden, go fishing, and attend Hillsboro Hops games! I’m a big fan of parks and natural spaces, as well as my kids’ activities.
I live with my husband, Jeff, and our three kids and dog in Hillsboro. We have been Washington County residents for 25 years and cannot imagine a better place to live!

My Priorities
- Right Sizing Audits
- Community Input
- Improved Communication
Audits can take a long time to get out. When they take too long, the information becomes stale and less useful. As County Auditor, I want the office to perform a range of audits. This includes some with limited scopes, so information can get out sooner. Other audits may take longer and be more complex, but we may release information in a series of reports, rather than holding information too long.
I believe community input is a critical way to assess what services are most important and/or may need attention – and what to audit! I want the office to have a better mechanism for the public to submit topics year-round. I also want the office to reach out to local government jurisdictions and the community on issues and programs they feel would be useful to examine.
The audits I am interested in performing as County Auditor are:
- Service coordination among partners with the County serving encampments
- Effectiveness of the County’s mental health services for youth
- Sheriff’s Office culture as a learning organization
Do you have a suggestion for an audit topic? Let me know! (link to form or survey)
There is little communication from the Auditor’s Office about its work. I believe we need more than just a website. We need to embrace social media and get information about audits and the work staff do out in a 21st century way – the way many people now communicate.
